Since 1999, the Greek real estate market has entered a long transitional
period towards its upgrade to a developed market, able to lure foreign
investors. The introduction of an ambitious, first time ever effort by
Greek authorities to end up with the cadastre necessary to secure transactions
and the initiation of contemporary investment tools (real estate mutual
funds and real estate investment trusts) indicate the new direction.
